Butter Chicken Momos
Ingredients:
- Bamboo Steamer
For the Dumpling Dough:
- 1 cup Maida (All purpose flour)
- pinch of salt
- 2 Tbsp oil (Any)
For the Chicken filling:
- 1lb minced chicken
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- Pepper and salt to taste
For the Butter Chicken Curry:
- 1 1/2 cup tomatoe puree
- 1/2 cup tomatoe paste
- 1/8 cup cream
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp dried Fenugreek leaves
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 2-3 cardamom
- 4-5 cloves
- 1 mace
- Salt to taste
Method: For the Momos, take a bowl and add maida to it. Add 1 tbsp oil and mix well. Now add water little by little while you knead the dough. Add 1 tbsp oil. Knead it well. Add more water if you need. Knead until all the flour is completely formed into a dough. Make a little soft dough. Add more oil or water if you need. Once the dough is done, keep it aside and cover it. Now for the chicken filling, take a bowl and add minced chicken. Put all the ingredinets for the chicken and mix well. Keep it aisde. Take a heavy bottom pan or you also use a pressure cooker vessel. Add two inch water to it. Cover it with a lid. Let it steam for little while. Now prepare your bamboo steamer. Cut a parchment paper of its size and place it in the bamboo steamer. You can also use a banana leaf. Make holes in the parchment paper. For the Momos, roll small dough balls into flat circles with a rolling pin. Use oil or flour as you need. As they are completely flat, place a small amount of chicken mixture in the center. Now, start folding in from one side, oil it if you need. The other side remains unfolded. Pinch it all together giving it a momo or dumpling shape. As your steamer is ready, put the momos on the bamboo steamer and steam it for about 15-20 mins until cooked well. check in between. For the Butter chicken curry, take a heavy bottome vessel. Add oil and butter to it. Let it heat. Add cloves, green cardamom, mace and ginger garlic paste to it. Saute it for a minute. Add tomatoe puree and paste. Cook it for sometime until it boils. Add salt and red chilli powder. Cover it and cook for 2 mins. Strain the gravy. Add garam masala powder and Dried Fengreek powder to it. cook it for a minute. Add maple syrup and cook it for 5 more minutes. Add Heavy cream and simmer the curry for 5-10 mins. Add the steamed momos to this curry and mix well. Your momos are ready!! Enjoy it on a sunday with your family.
